 Handicraft occupy an important place in the socio-economic fabric of the Marrakesh-Safi region. The handicraft sector offers a range of diversified products that draw their creativity from a design combining tradition and modernity. The sector also has the advantage of having a fabric of craftsmen and SMEs, as well as an important marketing network

Although the city of Marrakesh monopolizes the bulk of production and exports, craftsmanship also plays an important role in the other provinces of the region.

this sector contributes to job creation by supporting nearly 50% of the active population; more than 130,000 people work in the craft industry. The region has a stronger entrepreneurial fabric than other regions. The region has a stronger entrepreneurial fabric compared with other regions, with 75 firms, 288 SMEs and 760 bazaars. Infrastructure in development, (craft complex, set of potters, an institute of traditional arts and two training centers by apprenticeship), The Region of Marrakesh – Safi is the first exporter of handicrafts, achieving a turnover of export sales which amounts to 2.786 billion dh, with a share of 42% in the export turnover.
The main craft activities are traditional building, clothing, wood, leather, pottery, jewelry, wrought iron and others. The value of exports is: 172 000 321dh.

REAKDOWN OF EXPORTS BY DESTINATION A breakdown of exports by destination market, shows that the United States occupies the first place with 26.42%, while France has lost its leading position and comes in 2nd position with 13.07%, followed by Germany 7.5%.
